Is the Internet centralized and owned by any person?

In your day to day activities INTERNET plays a supreme role. You will use it for  different jobs like
          - Easy bill payments from home itself,
          - To be in contact with your staff (If you are running a company),
          - To book travels, hotels for your long journey.
          - To get a particular information easily without contacting anyone,
These are only some daily examples, but simply, INTERNET brings the world on to your fingertips. Whatever you need, the only place that you definitely find it is. . .in  the Internet.

So many times  I questioned myself and so many questions arouse in me about these internet. Now I bring you some basic things in which I got clarity, in this article. Now. Let me ask you some questions that I questioned myself earlier.

  1. What is internet?
  2. Who is owning, controlling and maintaining it continuously?
  3. How is it formed?
  4. How is it working?
  5. Why do You need to pay money for the  Internet?

If you know about this well, it's gonna be good. But, if you know nothing or having confusion, that's OK I'll give you a detail about that.
In this article let me discuss about the first two questions.....!

What is internet?
If you had studied any course related to computer networks/internet earlier, I think you are pretty good with this term. Basically in a single sentence we can say that internet is
"The network formed by co-operative interconnection of a large number of computer networks."
Or You can call it as a "network of networks".

Again you may have a question that what is that network. .. .! Yes, I'm there at your point. It is the connection of some number of computers together in  an organization/company or in any place for a
     - Better connectivity
     - Better communication
     - Better sharing of resources and
     - To bring people together.
So, The connection of this million number of networks is ...... the Internet.

Who is owning, controlling and maintaining Internet?
Up to now everything is OK. But let me say the important thing that so many of my friends also asked me so many times! That is "Who is the owner of internet?"

Before I reveal you the owner of  internet, just think that  internet itself is formed by connections of million number of hosts and computer networks. So how can you say that internet is centralized at one place?
There is no central Administration or a management for Internet. No single person owns the internet. Every one who is connected to the internet owns a part/ownership of internet.

Note: There are some volunteered & none-profit organizations to accept, approve and to make  the proposals(Protocols) got from the people as RFCs.
( If any person comes with a proposal, the organizations will make them approve/reject based on a procedure. But it's a another topic.)

In my next article, I wanna discuss the remaining three topics in a more detailed way.
                             Thank you.
